Jazzing up the WC!

Greetings! After a hiatus from sewing, I have returned with a finished project! (Plus, a cross-stitching update is coming soon.)

A few months ago, in an effort to get organized, the partner-in-crime and I bought some baskets to use on our bathroom over-the-commode shelving. We found them on sale at Michael's and they were just the right size; however, the lining was a red/black print, which does not work in our bathroom, for it has a blue theme going on. So, I thought I could make new liners out of a blue fabric that would match our blue bathroom. I found this blue polka dot fabric in the calico section at Hancock; this pattern comes in several colors, but obviously we went with the blue for our bathroom (on account of the aforementioned blue theme going on). Plus, the blue reminds me of bubbles, which is bathroomy (no, that's not a word; I just made it up). We guesstimated and bought a yard. Making the liners was fairly easy. We disassembled one of the red/black liners to use as a pattern. Seam rippers are so handy sometimes! Then I stitched up three new liners. T'was not too difficult. Now, if I had to make a liner on my own, with nothing to go on...that might be another story. :o) As it is, this was probably my most "free-hand" sewing I've done. I did not follow a pattern, other than the ripped apart red/black liner, nor did I really have any directions to follow. Still, the results are at least: matching, and at best: magnificent! So says the PIC. I agree on the matching. ;o)

Would it be possible for you to take some more pictures of these basket liners, such as the corners? I cannot remember how the original liners fit into the basket. Were there ties at the corners?

I really like that blue fabric.

How many of those baskets do you have? I can't remember.

Sorry, I just re-read your entry and saw that you stitched three blue liners.
