So, in fact, this more of a No Change Wallet.
Here's my latest finished project! It's the "No Cash Wallet" from Amy Karol's Bend-the-Rules Sewing. This is a super simple project, easily completeable in an hour or so. The trickiest part is choosing the fabric! I originally bought the circles (quilter's cotton from Hancock) for a handbag I wanted to make. That project is still in the works, but in the meantime, I decided to make this little wallet. I think the end product turned out pretty well. I chose not to add a decorative button to the front cover. I also did not sew two seams across the wallet where it folds; I thought that was unneccesary and that a black line across the circles or against the blue interior would be a little unsightly. Just my personal preference, though.
Although I just said that this was a simple project, my first attempt was a big FAIL. Not because I messed up, but because the pattern provided was not quite wide enough. I found that I needed to add a half inch to the width to allow my cards to fit in the pockets properly. So FYI to all of you who have this book and plan to make this project.
OK, a walkthrough of the pics; the first two are of the outside. For the outside and the interior, I really paid attention to what the cut fabric would look like (hence the symmetry on the back exterior). The first is the front sans button, the second is the back (obviously when the wallet is folded). Third, the wallet is partially open (check out that snap!), and finally, the whole interior. For the interior, I just wanted a cut that had some black, rather than just the white and yellow. The fabric cut for the pockets was anything goes. I didn't bother so much with them, but they still turned out OK.
Stay tuned for the circles bag! It's coming, but there was a FAIL with that project, too. Details will come.
Until then, Tschau!
