So, my partner-in-crime and I were at Hancock Fabrics checking out fabric (there's a shocker), and my PIC saw a couple green fleece remnants and also a khaki fleece remnant. So, then we decided to scope out the patterns for some fleece patterns. We found McCall's M5252 for a fleece pullover (with a sort of hidden iPod, or MP3 player, pocket--in the picture, it's just to the right of the tree). Paging through the pattern catalog a little more turned up McCall's M4681, which I thought had a couple of cute mitten/scarf patterns. Apparently my PIC thought so, too. See, the mittens (lower left) and "glittens" (best views are lower right and upper left) my PIC is wearing are based on M4681. (Obviously, since M4681 is a ladies' pattern, we had to make a few sizing modifications, but I think they turned out really well. The PIC seems to like them.)
This is a project that I didn't really do any of the sewing; my PIC did these himself. Hey, he's the one in this relationship who took Home Ec (or whatever the kids call it these days).
BUT this time, I was the expert, as I have worked with patterns before (i.e. my pajama pants seen in an earlier post). :o) So I helped him with the layout and piecing together, etc. He also did a bit of fabric drawing, trying for a silkscreen look. The black ink obviously stands out, but there's some green in there, too.
Well, this blog is "The Crafty Snicklefritzes" for a reason. Sometimes he's crafty, too.

"Glittens"?! Did you just make that word up? Or is that what the pattern called them? That may be the silliest word I've ever heard. And that's saying a lot, considering the fact that there was a time when we were compiling silly/spastic words. Does the PIC actually go around calling them "glittens?"
What kind of needles did you use for the fleece? How much time did it take to cut out, piece, and stitch this project?
So many questions!
1. Glittens: a cross between mittens and (often fingerless) gloves. No, the pattern just calls them mittens, but they aren't. They are a strange combo of gloves and mittens. Yes, I call them what they are: glittens.
2. No, we did not replace the lightbulb yet. It's a dark sweatshop.
3. Fleece uses regular needles. It's a fantastically forgiving fabric that's really easy to work with and hides my crapppy stitchwork.
4. It took me about a day. One evening to cut out the pattern and one morning/afternoon to piece/stitch it together. The design took me another evening.
Looks like your making some amazing things.
