It's Not Easy Being Green or I'm Sorry, But What Color Is This?!

So, it's been awhile, and my craftiness output has been down. But I'm still working on stuff. I haven't sewn much for a couple weeks, but I've returned to my first needlecraft skill: cross stitching. I finally bought an embroidery floss organizer (after almost 20 years of cross stitching--although my sister and I had a small one that we shared. I wonder if it is in the abyss of our childhood bedroom somewhere, or if it ened up with her, like so many of my other things: tables, chairs, television antenna, cutting mats, etc., ...but I digress). Unfortunately, the dumb thing's slots are too narrow for the floss bobbins, so I have to put them in sideways, rather than front to back. (Or perhaps it's the silly floss bobbins that came with the case that are too big? I don't know.) For the past week, I have been working on winding floss onto bobbins...which brings me to the reason why I had to get all sorts of embroidery floss in the first place:

My new project! Please see the progress I made on it this afternoon (the other picture in this post). I bought this kit a couple years ago because it was on sale and the end product is pretty neat. BUT, sheesh, as you can perhaps tell from the organizer picture, there's lots of green and reddish shades of floss. I really made an effort to figure out what was what in the hanks o' floss that came with the kit. No lie though, this kit uses shades 501, 502, 503, and 504; 814 and 815; 987, 988, and 989; plus 3041 and 3042. DMC Floss is kind of organized like a color wheel, so like colors are mostly together. Needless to say, I was starting to go cross-eyed when trying to figure out whether such and such hank was 502 or 503...etc. I just broke down and bought new MARKED hanks of floss and matched up what I could of the kit and store bought hanks. But note the greens and reds that I did not get matched up yet. :o)

And... other than stopping by to help me figure out whether this hank is 3041 or 3042, my challenge to you is: what is my new project??? Here is a hint--all the colors of floss pictured in the organizer will be used in this new project.

Stop reading and guess already!
