Inspired by a Christmas gift from my brother and sister-in-law, I made up two draft snakes for a couple of windows. I found a pattern for a draft snake here. It's not quite as cute as the Christmas present, but it's not a totally utilitarian pattern. I used some cotton I already had; the pattern sort of coordinates with our bed's comforter. For eyes, I used some buttons from a sweater we felted (we felted sweaters to make mittens). I used some red felt for the tongue. The instructions called for play sand or kitty litter for stuffing, but I used rice to fill the bag. True story: we bought a twenty pound bag (yes, that's 2-0) and the PIC was a little concerned it would not be enough. We're still going strong after two snakes.
This is a super simple project with an end result that is both cute and functional! I'm planning to make another snake for the remainder of our sliding door (the adorable gifted snake can only handle half of the door) and either a REALLY long snake but most likely just two regular sized snakes for the double window in the Sssssnicklefritz Sweat Shop.
Tschau!

Except that I still wanted to point out the absurdity of it all.
Additionally, those draft snakes are great! They really keep the draft out!
